Keeping your mouth healthy and your teeth strong means getting quality preventive dental care on a regular basis. We believe Preventive Dental Care is a key to the dental health of you and your family.
Preventive Care starts with regular dental exams, cleaning and follow up care. We recommend you come in for an exam and cleaning every six months, or more often, if Dr. Felix recommends.
Your visits to our office for Preventive Care can include:
- A comprehensive dental exam, which includes the teeth, mouth, gums, tongue and the face, neck and lymph nodes
- Occlussal Exam – to evaluate the way your upper and lower teeth interact and your bite
- Evaluation of existing restorations (we check your fillings, crowns, broken teeth or loose teeth and monitor their condition)
- Full mouth X-rays
- Peridontal charting and an evaluation of your gums
- Teeth cleaning
Teeth Cleaning – Prophylaxis
Regular teeth cleaning by our dental hygienist is the foundation of your dental health. We want you to have a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
Every patient is unique and your teeth cleaning appointment caters to you and what you need. Regular Prophylaxis is designed for people who have generally healthy teeth and gums. Plaque and tartar build-up will be removed, your teeth will be checked for cavities, your gums will be checked for disease and a dental care program will be recommended for your home care regime.
The following are some resources for keeping up with your dental health:
Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning)
Sometimes teeth and gums may need extra care if the presence of gum disease is detected. Periodontal pockets can form and the gum tissue can become inflamed and pull away from the tooth. Failure to properly treat this condition can cause bone and tooth loss.
Dr. Felix can recommend your specific treatment plan during a thorough evaluation of the teeth, gum, and bone.
